Meet the ‘Young Professor’ Kennedy Ellis

A wise head on young shoulders is how you might describe Kennedy Ellis, studying sustainable agriculture at Olivet College.

Despite just starting out in the turf industry, she has gone out of her way to meet people, seek out mentors and provide a helping hand to other students.

Her verve and tenacity have already earned her places on the all-female volunteer turf team at the US Women’s Open in 2021 and earlier this year at Pine Needles in North Carolina, both supported by Syngenta.

She is also the youngest female to ever be selected as a panel member for annual networking event Ladies Leading Turf.

“I have such high goals and expectations for where I want to go, so now’s the time to really make an impact and set a concrete route of ‘this is where I belong and this is where I want to go.’”

So positive has been Ellis’ short time in the industry, her mind is already made up to become a professor.
