MGA love.golf

love.golf and the Muslim Golf Association (MGA) have entered into a formal partnership to increase playing opportunities for hundreds of Muslim women up and down the UK.

The partnership will see up to 16 events take place in 2022 across major cities including London, Birmingham, Leeds and Glasgow.

love.golf, supported by Syngenta Golf, is a group golf coaching experience, designed for women, replacing traditional instruction with the freedom to explore, discover untapped potential and bond within a supportive, like-minded group.

The MGA was founded in 2020 by Amir Malik and is the world’s first dedicated golfing platform that caters for the modern, professional, Muslim male & female golfer. The Association provides a unique opportunity for Muslims (not exclusively) to enjoy golf in a safe, inclusive and non-intimidating environment.

MGA events powered by love.golf will take place between May and September and will build on the success of several pilot events last year, the first of which sold out in the space of twelve hours.

Commenting on the partnership, Amir Malik said: “I’m thrilled to be working with love.golf and to accelerate our efforts to bring the game to more Muslim communities across the UK.

“Last year we saw first-hand the unprecedented demand among Muslim women and for some, golf was a life-changing experience. In my view, golf needs to be more representative of the communities in which we live and work, and this partnership is a major step forward in achieving this.”

Mark Birchmore, Syngenta Global Head of Marketing Turf and Landscape, commented: “Recent reports and our own research* have highlighted that golf has an opportunity to appeal to a greater diversity of players. Despite a recent resurgence in participation, we are often seeing the same faces come to, or come back to, the game.

“To make the game more diverse and sustainable, we need to look at solutions which help create gateways into golf for communities which may not typically think it is for them and help golf clubs represent the communities within which they operate.”

love.golf founder and head coach, Alastair Spink, added:

“The partnership is a natural next step given the success we achieved last year. Golf has a fantastic opportunity to connect with a more diverse customer base with the right product and format. We’re excited about bringing the love.golf experience to more Muslim women throughout the country and sharing what we learn with the golf industry.”

The first of the Muslim Golf Association events powered by love.golf takes place this May. Further events will be announced on the Muslim Golf Association website.
