Mentor program helps women rise in turf

A new and fast-growing mentor program is helping connect women in turf across North America.

The Women in Turfgrass Management (WiTM) program was founded by Morgan Creighton, Assistant Superintendent at Woodside Golf Course in Alberta, Canada, when she realized there was little support for young women coming into the industry.

After founding the program in late 2019, Morgan has now recruited nearly 100 female turfgrass professionals to be part of WiTM and recently hosted the group’s first conference.

What started out as a vision to connect experienced female turf professionals with aspiring ones in Canada, has already branched out into the United States and garnered interest from further afield too.

Morgan spoke to Syngenta Golf about the program, who it’s for and where she’d like to take it in the future.
