‘Sustainability is the key’
“Sustainability is the key, the opportunity, to change the misconception that people have on golf,” says Giulia Ferroni, Managing Director of Leeds Golf Design.
Giulia moved from Italy to Oxford, England when she was 24 years old to join Hawtree Limited, one of golf’s most successful family-run design practices.
By studying the heritage of golf course architecture and working on classic courses including The Old Course at St Andrews, Royal Birkdale, Sunningdale and Lahinch, Giulia has developed unique perspectives on why golf needs to plan for a more sustainable and resource-efficient future.
An independent assessor for the GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf, Giulia has become a leading voice on sustainability practices and the need to grow gender equity and female representation across the golf industry.
Watch the interview to learn about Giulia’s unique perspectives on sustainability, course design, the future implications of resource scarcity and what makes her happiest on a golf course.
