Talking Turf: Sue de Zwart

Diversity

“I said I wanted to be a superintendent within two years,” Sue de Zwart declared in an interview for an internship at Pebble Beach.

Her interviewer may have laughed, but Sue’s ambition was evident right from the start of her career, when she left home in South Africa and headed to California to hone her turf craft at one of the world’s best golf venues.

She would go on to achieve her goal, at the iconic Leopard Creek Country Club in her native South Africa, and later set up Talking Turf, a successful consultancy offering agronomic solutions.

Watch the interview to find out more about Sue’s career in turf, what advice she would give to other women in the industry and what she loves most about her work.
